Renaissance and Equality
The Great Migration was the movement of the African Americans from the South to the North because of the Jim Crow laws and the harsh and unequal living situations in South. The migration sparked the Harlem Renaissance which in turn encouraged the African American community to freely develop and establish a more just representation of their culture. They expressed their culture through various outlets such as art, literature, and music. Through their efforts, African Americans were able to fight for social justice and equality that were missing in their communities and home cities.
